CAPTAIN'S LOGS

Title: Per Chance to Dream, Part Five
Stardate: 200603.07
Location: USS Eagle
Setting: CO's quarters

The alarm changed timbre again. It grew more urgently and suddenly he is at the helm/cockpit in a different craft...

Beep! Beep! Beep!
Warning!
Hull breach in four minutes.
Shut down propulsion.
Initiating shutdown sequence...

"No!" the man yelled. His hands quickly hit all the overrides to keep the tiny craft moving, struggling in vain against a larger foe.

Better it was destroyed that in the wrong hands. The mission was not a total success but at least it was not a total failure.

KRRRRAAAT! Another salvo hit the small ship. It shook violently as if in its last throws of death. The pilot fell and lost his balance. The phaser flew out of his hand and spun away on the deck. The ship began to yaw.

The man got up dazed and tried the last thing he had left.

Maybe just maybe he'd make it out alive and free.

But the ringing of the alarm kept getting louder and louder. Finally it grew so loud he could hear nothing else not even the final assault on the dying craft. Just ..
